"The Great Wave Off Kanagawa" - Katsushika Hokusai
This is a series I've been working on using fake acrylic nails. I took well-known works of art and painted them on the nails using acrylic paint and then sealing them with clear nail polish. I then mounted them on a piece of white wood and placed gold frames around them to give it a museum feel. I had my first solo show with these works and I hope to get my dream show at the MFAH with them!
*I apologize for the quality of the picture/glare. It's the best I could do with camera I have*
you're welcome! my suggestion is that perhaps you try a little darker background for the frame...instead of white, maybe...black? or gray? not sure, but the white is very very bright.
yeah i had thought about that, but the reason i chose the white is because museum walls are typically white and it was supposed to be like mini museum pieces. i also wanted a color that wouldn't take away from the painting on the nail. in the beginning i tried black, but it didn't make some of the darker nails pop and gray tended to wash the colors out. they're not as bright i would say in person, i think the combo of my crappy camera and the flash made it seem brighter, but thank you for the suggestion and for the faves!
